fatima.
Fatima and I made a plan to meet at her apartment in Condesa, I would walk over and we would take an uber to Parque Quetzalcoatl. I arrive at her door and was immediately greeted with the warmest, “Hola, Mi Amor.” We embrace and she lead me through the entry garden and up her winding stairwell until we reach her spacious apartment! I paused and took in the beautiful, blue stainless windows and a balcony so large that the trees and flowers were blooming. She gives me a quick tour and we decide to sit on the balcony while we get to know each other before I pull out my big, intimidating camera. We chat about how long we’ve both been living in Mexico City and what brought us here. She asks if I mind if she smokes, I say please feel comfortable to exist as she needs in her home, there will be magic in it. And magic we found.
We chatted about what she wanted from the session, she knew she needed a new corporate head shot so she started in a dark, black dress with a suit jacket covering herself, a protection of sorts. As she took another drag of her pink joint I pulled out my camera and said, do you mind if we start the session up here? I knew I needed to document her in this sacred space.
After about five minutes of me shooting, she felt safe to ask if she could change into something that felt more like herself! I was thinking the same thing, I admit and that’s when the true session began. Over the course of an hour, I got to witness her metamorpihize into her truest, most beautiful self, no walls or guards up. Safe and sacred. Pure love and light. I was meant to meet Fatima, and she was meant to meet me.
While I helped Fatima work through her fear of being seen, she helped me break down my limiting beliefs of love. She broke through time and space and spoke to my Grandma Annie for me. She said she felt Annie in the space and said Annie wanted to tell me it was safe for me to love, it was safe for me to experience the kind of love she had with my Grandpa Jake and that she was with me and rooting for me… Exactly two weeks later I would meet the person I fell in love with… But that’s a story for another time.
Fatima and I saw each other and helped each other get exactly when we needed. Thank you Fatima for allowing a session to be more than just photos. Thank you for allowing me to speak into your life and thank you for speaking into mine. Thank you for giving me the strength to let love in. Thank you for being the brightest, purest light. We didn’t make it to Parque Quetzalcoat but I think we created something much more beautiful.
Te amo, mi amor.
A few weeks later, I was thinking about Fatima all day and when I arrived at Tonal with my friends, the first person I see when I walk up the stairs was Fatima! She was dancing with a cloud of incense above. Of course she would be the cool person, holding incense at the club. I told her I was thinking about her all day and she shouted while she danced in a circle, “You manifested me! I wasn’t going to come out tonight but I felt pulled! We manifested each other!”
Thank you, Source for bringing us together, again and again.
